Activities for Memorial Day Weekend in Raleigh and Across North Carolina

Although summer doesn’t officially start until June 21, 2017 many mark Memorial Day weekend as the beginning of the summer season. Some families choose to celebrate by staying home while others are more inclined to find an outing. If you prefer to travel outside of the Raleigh, and Triangle areas, North Carolina has an abundance of natural resources to enjoy.

- May 26th WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest at Fleming Loop Park
- May 29th Memorial Day Observance at Historic Oakwood Cemetery
Zoos, Beaches, Aquariums, Museums, or Historic Sites open on Memorial Day
- NC Aquariums
- NC Zoo
- NC Museums of History and Natural Sciences
- State Parks and Recreation areas (most are open check before going)
- May 27th Town of Atlantic Beach annual fireworks display
